AIWGxFootballAssociation Iftar at Wembley Stadium

The Football Association collaborated with the Anti-Islamophobia Working Group on Wednesday 3rd April with an iftar at the iconic football stadium, as part of the FA’s faith and football series.

AIWG founder and director, Anisa Mahmood, joined the panel along with the FA's DEI experts, Dal Darroch and Yasir Mirza, discussing the rise of Islamophobia in wider society and in sports. Muslim footballer Zesh Rehman highlighted his own experience and the panel agreed that the game must be inclusive for all and steps needs to be taken to eliminate Islamophobia in football.

Thank you to the FA for organising this magical evening, the highlight for sure was hearing the call to prayer at pitch side.

Interviews available at Sky Sports and the FA.
