AIWG Flagship Islamophobia Awareness Month '24 Event

The Anti-Islamophobia Working Group hosted its flagship event to mark Islamophobia Awareness Month 2024 at Westminster City Council.

Our speakers highlighted the rising Islamophobia, the importance of effective allyship, and meaningful change which is needed now more than ever.

- Every year since 2017 the highest number of hate crimes have been committed against Muslims in England and Wales

- Since October 2023 Islamophobia has increased by 600%

- The race riots over the summer saw violent and blatant acts of Islamophobia, showing the sobering reality of when discrimination continues to go unchecked

The theme of this year’s IAM is “seeds of change” which highlights that even the smallest of actions can create a big impact 🌱

Thank you to all of our speakers, supporters and members for your continued commitment.

Throughout November the AIWG will be collaborating with a range of partners to raise awareness, demonstrate effective allyship and celebrate British Muslim excellence.

We call on everyone to tackle Islamophobia and plant the seeds of change that are so desperately needed at this time.
